School—Parent Compacts

The Kindergarten team will work with students and their families to support students’ success in reading, math, and writing. 

• I will develop engaging lesson plans that align with Georgia’s state standards.  
• I will provide students with opportunities to read and write on a daily basis.
• I will provide students with opportunities to read and write numbers to 20 and count forwards and backwards on a daily basis.
• I will encourage communication between students, parents, and teachers through daily take home folders, phone calls, and Class Dojo.
• I will provide students with leveled readers and grade level sight words.

Antioch Elementary School parents joined staff to develop ideas about how families can support students’ success in academics.  

• I will read and sign my child’s folder daily and respond to any communication.
• I will support my child by helping them read their leveled readers nightly and practice assigned sight words.  
• I will communicate any concerns regarding my child to the teacher, including any changes in personal information through the daily take home folder or a phone call to the school.
• I will attend scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
• I will practice counting to 100 every night.
• I will connect to ClassDojo to communicate with the teacher

In the 1st Grade classroom, Teachers promise:

• I will communicate with the parents using Class Dojo.
• I will make my classroom a safe place to learn.
• I will provide students with the materials they need to do their homework (books, reading logs, etc).
• I will teach lessons based on Georgia’s state standards
• I will provide opportunities to include parents in special classroom activities throughout the year.
• I will meet face to face with parents at least twice per year.
• I will encourage parents to be an active participant in the classroom.

At Home: The parents of first grade students promise to:

• I will help my child with his/her homework every night. This includes reading with/listening to my child read, write it on their reading log and practice sight words. 
• I will check my child’s folder every night.
• I will join Class Dojo to communicate with my child’s teacher.
• I will send my child to school prepared to learn with a book bag, yellow folder,  his/her bag of reading books, and his/her homework.
• I will meet face to face with my child’s teacher at least twice per year.
• I will attend at least one family event or volunteer opportunity throughout the school year.

The Second Grade team will work with students and their families to support students’ success in academics.  

• I will monitor your child’s progress in reading and math and update you during conferences, or before if there are concerns.
• I will provide homework with high-frequency words and math review before unit assessments.. 
• I will provide books for all the students to read daily.
• I will contact parents if academic or behavioral concerns arise.

• I will let the teacher know if my child appears to be struggling on homework.
• I will have my child read to me 15 minutes or more  a day.
• I will help my child do their homework.
• I will attend parent conferences and family PTO nights.
• I will communicate regularly with my child’s teacher through daily take-home folders and Class Dojo.
• I will help my child read/write sight words.

In the 3rd Grade Classroom…

• I will design differentiated lessons that engage the students and make them want to learn more.
• I will communicate with parents in as many ways as possible. (Notes, Emails, Phone Calls, Class Dojo, Progress Reports/Report cards,  monthly newsletters, calendars,  and Conferences as needed.
• I will teach the Georgia Standards of Excellence as provided by the State of Georgia, and use that curriculum to prepare students for success on the Georgia Milestones and a successful transition to 4th grade.

At Home…

• I will have my child at school on time each and every day, unless they are ill.
• I will help my child with homework at home and review any assignments that I see them struggle with.
• I will make sure my child completes work at home and at school.
• I will make sure my child knows, and follows, appropriate rules for behavior at home and school.

In the 4th Grade Classroom we will:

• I will provide meaningful teaching and learning opportunities with real world connections and applications.
• I will demonstrate care and concern for each student. 
• I will make efficient use of academic learning time. 
• I will use special activities in the classroom to make learning enjoyable, meaningful, and applicable. 
• I will provide an environment that allows for positive communication between me, parents, and students. 
• I will encourage students and parents by providing information about student progress. 
• I will give students strategies to achieve their highest academic and social potential. 
• I will hold students accountable for building depth of character, classroom expectations, completing daily work on time, and being organized and productive.
• I will support the social, emotional, and academic needs of each student, and provide opportunities to build confidence.
• I will provide support to students by incorporating strategies that focus on learning styles of all students.

At Home we will:

• I will see that my child is punctual and attends school regularly.
• I will support the school in its attempt to maintain proper order. 
• I will encourage my child’s efforts to do his/her best at home and school.
• I will be aware of what my child is learning.
• I will encourage positive attitudes about school.
• I will attend at least 2 parent-teacher conferences and attend school functions when possible.
• I will communicate with my child daily about school.
• I will encourage my child to read at home.
• I will insure my child completes his or her homework, if it is assigned.
• I will support and encourage the classroom expectations that will help build depth of character and achieve highest academic potential. 

The 5th Grade team will work with students to support 

• I will provide opportunity through engaging lessons, learning documents, and interactive notebooks.
• I will communicate with parents through Class Dojo,  daily take home folder, and monthly calendars.  .
• I will provide opportunity through classwork interactive notebooks, technology and learning documents  to learn the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

Parents will work with their children to support student success by:

• I will have my child read nightly for 15-20 minutes.
• I will quiz my child over vocabulary words every week.
• I will help with school work.
• I will encourage my child to be successful.
• I will make sure my child has good attendance, is on time for school, and is prepared.
